What We Teach
Prime Areas of Development

We support each child to feel secure, valued and confident. At Harefield Honeybees we help children build friendships, work cooperatively, manage their feelings, understand rules, and develop self-confidence and independence.
Physical Development

Children at Harefield Honeybees enjoy active daily play—indoors and outdoors—that builds coordination, balance and strength. We also help develop fine-motor skills through tools, pencils and hands-on activities, and teach children to look after themselves, make healthy choices and stay safe.
Communication and Language

At Harefield Honeybees we create a language-rich environment where children are encouraged to listen, ask questions, share ideas and engage in meaningful conversation. We use songs, stories, rhymes and role-play to build their vocabulary and confidence in speaking and understanding.
Literacy

Our children are surrounded by books, rhymes and mark-making opportunities. At Harefield Honeybees we nurture a love of reading and writing by providing fun, meaningful experiences where children explore print, make marks, experiment with writing and begin to form letters and simple words.
Mathematics

Harefield Honeybees embeds maths into everyday play and routines: counting, sorting, comparing sizes and shapes, exploring patterns and using mathematical language. We help children build a strong number sense and spatial awareness before they move on to more formal maths.
Understanding the World

We give children the chance to explore, ask questions and make sense of the world around them. At Harefield Honeybees children investigate nature, technology, communities and cultures through hands-on enquiry, real-life experiences, walks and discussion—fostering curiosity and an appreciation of their place in the world.
