Job Description: Qualified Nursery Teacher
Position Title: Qualified Nursery Teacher
Reports to: Nursery Manager / Head of Early Years
Location: Harefield Honeybees Day Nursery
The Qualified Nursery Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality early years education for children aged 0–5 years in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and your nursery’s philosophy of nurturing, safe, and child-centred learning. They inspire children’s learning through play, support holistic development, lead the education team, and build strong partnerships with families.
Teaching & Learning
• Plan, prepare and deliver structured, flexible, and age-appropriate learning experiences that support the EYFS framework and children’s developmental needs.
• Assess, observe, monitor, and record children’s progress, using this to inform next steps for learning.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies—including play-based and adult-led activities—to engage learners and foster curiosity and confidence.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Lead and support nursery practitioners, modelling high standards of practice and professional behaviour.
• Coordinate with colleagues to ensure consistency in delivery and continuity of care.
• Provide mentoring and guidance, particularly to newer or less experienced staff members.
Environment & Safeguarding
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment that nurtures children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
• Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times; conduct risk assessments and adhere to safeguarding procedures.
Parental Engagement
• Build strong relationships with parents/carers, communicating daily with them about children’s progress and needs.
• Encourage parent involvement and support family engagement in all aspects of their child’s learning.
Professional Development
• Stay up to date with developments in early years education and best practice; attend relevant training.

Qualifications
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS), or equivalent professional qualification.
• Degree in Early Childhood or related field desirable.
• Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
